Meetings & Events
Monthly Meetings
Our meetings are usually held on the third Monday of the month, from 3:00 – 4:30 pm in the Quadra Community Centre, Room 3, September through April. We meet in-person whenever possible and provide a Zoom link to those not able to attend in person. If you are not already on the email list and would like to receive the Zoom link, please request your address be added using the Contact section of this website. Everyone is welcome.
The meetings consist of about a ½ hour for sharing about death, dying and grief, and the next hour for a presentation to learn more about a particular death-related topic, followed by a question and answer period and discussion.
Upcoming meeting :
Jan 19, 2026
In this meeting, the educational component will be Exploring the Tradition and Beauty of Shrouds. Lindsay Langdale and Emma Tius will come from Cortes Island, where many natural burials take place without a casket. They will teach about shrouds —simple cloths used to wrap the body before burial—which have been part of burial traditions for thousands of years. Found across cultures and faiths, they honour dignity, equality, and the journey beyond life. As natural and eco-friendly burials grow, shrouding is resurfacing as a gentle, sustainable choice. Join us to learn more about this timeless practice—and perhaps even explore creating a meaningful shroud for yourself.
Possible Future Topics: Betty Doak on Advance Care Planning and a paramedic on First Responders.
Next meeting dates in 2026: Feb 23, Mar 16, Apr 20.
