Monthly Meetings

Our meetings are usually held on the third Monday of the month, from 3:00 – 4:30 pm in the Quadra Community Centre, Room 3, September through April. We meet in-person whenever possible and provide a Zoom link to those not able to attend in person. If you are not already on the email list and would like to receive the Zoom link, please request your address be added using the Contact section of this website. Everyone is welcome.

The meetings consist of about a ½ hour for sharing about death, dying and grief, and the next hour for a presentation to learn more about a particular death-related topic, followed by a question and answer period and discussion.

• Monday, January 20, 2025 3:00 – 4:30 pm

Sally Houghton, Quadra’s Notary Public, will give a presentation on “Estate Planning vs. Personal Planning – what’s the difference?” She will talk about Wills, Power of Attorney, and Representation Agreements, and there will be some time for questions.

• Sunday, February 23, 2025 3:00 – 4:30 pm  NOTE THAT THIS MEETING IS ON A SUNDAY, NOT MONDAY

The topic for this meeting will be Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD), “a process that allows someone who is found eligible to be able to receive assistance from a medical practitioner in ending their life.” Dr. Steve Hughes, who works out of the Quadra Island Medical Clinic and is qualified to administer MAiD, will share information and answer questions about MAiD.
