Besty Young chaired the meeting; 15 participants in person, 5 on Zoom.

Quadra Island Cemetery Society Cleanup April 22nd

If you’d like to help tidy up the cemetery, bring your gloves and join others at the cemetery at 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 22nd.

Drop in to say hello to the Way To Go folks hosting a table on May 25, June 22, July 20, and August 17th.

Hearing Well During Meetings

Hearing in a meeting can be challenging, especially as we combine in-person with Zoom participants. Joyce contributed the following suggestions to help with this. 

• Arrange the circle so that the speaker, the chair, and maybe even the zoom guests are beside each other and can be seen by everyone in the circle. (Maybe this could be a regular positioning so that people who can’t hear well know how to orient themselves.)
• Everyone should hold the talking stone (conference speaker) near their voice, and speak loudly and clearly.
• If a large group is expected, make a double circle, rather than having folks sit so far apart.
• After the sharing time, ask the zoom participants if everyone was able to hear well
• Suggest zoom participants who can’t hear well try earbuds in their computers.

Next Meeting

Our next meeting won’t be until Monday, September 16th. We will continue to meet in Room 3 of the Community Centre, but will have our meetings from 3:00 – 4:30 pm rather than in the evening.

April 15th Meeting

Quadra’s Notary Sally Houghton gave an engaging and informative presentation of “The Legal Documents: Power of Attorney, Representation Agreement, Will”. Her brochure is attached.
